Talk:Information aspect

External/Internal

External/Internal means more Explicit/Implicit, or Precise/Approximate.

OK, I can actually see some truth to "precise/approximate." But be careful to avoid generating new concepts that aren't actually used in socionics. (Admin 14:48, 9 June 2007 (CDT))

They are related to modus of acquisition : I read on a classical socionic website that Sensing was percieving information more slowly, but in an accurate manner, as Intuition was percieving information more fast, but in an approximate manner.

This explains why Intuitive types handle better large amounts of data (especially NP's), and tend to lack memory (especially NJ's).

I think that is the private interpretation of the author. Others write that sensing perceives information immediately, while intuiters take time to orient themselves. Also, I have heard that NTs are able to process large amounts of data, not NPs. This is a very hazy subject. (Admin 14:45, 9 June 2007 (CDT))

J / P

I read somewhere that J = fractional and P = integral Machintruc 14:16, 9 June 2007 (CDT)

Again, that's a purely private interpretation, and each of those terms would have to be carefully defined. (Admin 14:46, 9 June 2007 (CDT))

Merge with IM element

As far as I can tell, there is no meaningful distinction to be made between "aspects" and "elements". The term aspect is pretty much unnecessary. Paraphrased from my comment on Rick's blog: Should one say that aspects occupy functions, or that elements occupy functions? It doesn't seem to make much of a difference. Also, if the patterns represented by elements are rather specific to the human psyche (unlike, say, vision), then the distinction becomes even less useful.

You might be right, but if you remove the category of information aspect, you're making a big theoretical innovation, since the concept is fairly central to basic socionics, even if it isn't really used all that much in practice.
Much like Reinin dichotomies. :) Though I would argue that Reinin dichotomies are more useful. Thehotelambush 15:53, 10 July 2007 (CDT)
If we say, though, something like "the Symbol f.gif aspect of this situation," then we are talking about the information aspect, not the IM element. A fine distinction, perhaps, but I wouldn't remove the page for now. --Admin 03:24, 7 July 2007 (CDT)
Alright, but this may be a source of confusion for newcomers. Thehotelambush 15:53, 10 July 2007 (CDT)
