I tried to read on them, and I confess I didn't get very far, I found only some very brief mentions in translations of Gulenko's papers, and honestly I did not instinctively graps why those rings should even be seen as recognizable and characteristic units. Basically, he looks at four orderings of elements and construes that if the order is the same in the mental ring of functions in all four types, then there must be similarities in thinking styles.
